Applications

Application form:
APPLICATIONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Check the taken characters and the reserve page to ensure that your character isn't already taken.

We do accept nearly every type of character, including canon, minor, AU, game imports, OCs, fandom OCs, and so forth. There is one canon and one AU version of each character allowed. Especially minor characters may be evaluated as fandom OCs, but are appable under that distinction. Please remove the sections of the application that do not pertain to your character.

You can play up to five characters at one time. Two of those characters can be from the same canon. You may bring in two characters per calendar month, discounting rejections. If you wish to apply for a sixth character overall or a third canonmate, contact us individually.

App challenge policy is as follows: we will wait the length of the reserve for the original reserver to apply, and judge their application first, independently and not comparatively. Only if they are rejected will the challenger be assessed. Without a reserve, apps will be assessed in the order they are received-- again not against each other, but each one at a time.

We would prefer if you do not delete your comments upon rejection or acceptance. Simply ask us and we will screen the entire thread on request for privacy, no explanation necessary.

Applications are checked daily, and assigned to a mod who is best able to assess the application, either because of available time or because they know the fandom best. When necessary, the mods will discuss your application before coming to a decision. Please be patient and allow us time to check and discuss. Some apps will be approved almost immediately, while others may take a little longer. It's not because we don't care, but because we may be having trouble finding someone familiar with your canon, or simply that we're unexpectedly busy.

If you have any questions about the application process, feel free to contact the moderators directly or ask in the FAQ for clarification.

EXPLAINING THE FORM
PLAYER INFO
Player Name:
Preferred Contact Methods: If you would prefer these are kept private, let us know in your application and we will immediately screen your initial comment.
Other Characters:

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Include (AU) if applicable.
Series:
Canon Point: If you are applying for the OU version of your character, please give a quick explanation of what point in canon your character will be coming from.
History Link: Please link to a canon source even if your character is an AU! Include a written history only if there isn’t a convenient wiki or other site that gives a good explanation of the canon.

AU/OC History: If you are applying for an AU version of the character, or an original character, please give a comprehensive description of what your AU or original universe are about and (in the case of an AU) what the differences are between the canon history and your AU. You should include something about what has happened recently before the character comes to the Lost Realm.

Game Import: If your character is being imported from another game, please identify the game and indicate what changes your character will display as a result of development in the game. It’s suggested that you include an overview of major events that have happened to them, and significant CR that they’ve made, but this doesn’t need to be terribly long.

Personality: We have no word count requirement on this, but it should be the bulk of your application.

Powers: This is mandatory for all characters, but does not need to be extensive. A list or bullet point would be fine.

Other Details: Anything else you think we should know.

SAMPLES
Please give at least one sample of the character you’re playing. These can be musebox or game threads, or can be written fresh for this application. If you are doing a game import, you should include a recent thread from the game. Your application samples should give a representative example of how you’ll be playing the character in this game. We prefer thread links, but will not penalize anyone for providing more standard written samples instead; if we feel we need more material to judge from, we'll ask.

Any Concerns: Anything you need to ask us? Let us know!

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Sollux Captor (AU)
Series: Homestuck / Derpbent
Canon Point: Right after his lusus dies
History Link: See below

AU/OC History: There isn't much of a set "backstory" for Sollux in Derpbent, but enough of his life has been revealed that it can be easily inferred. Likely since the time he was merely a wriggler, he has been Heir Apparent to the throne, and thus a "threat" to the Empress' reign. Since the Empress would rather her position not be threatened, she has sent scouts and assassins daily in an attempt to have him killed. His lusus continued to protect him from these attempts thought his young life (which is not Gl'bgolyb) is an electric eel-like creature (although Sollux not having Gl'bgolyb as a lusus is more of an author error than Sollux's blood not being as high as it should be, since the information that every magenta-blood had Gl'bgolyb as a lusus wasn't released yet). While his lusus continued to defend him, the Empress realized over the sweeps that her scouts failing to return to her meant that her heir still lived.

In reply to her scouts deaths, she continued to send even more assassins to kill Sollux, obviously too bothered with her own position on the throne and decimating other civilizations to be bothered to kill him herself. Without a lusus as large and dangerous as Gl'bgolyb, Sollux had to learn to defend himself, and spent a good part of each day fending off the assassins the Empress sent after him. It's essentially an everyday activity, and as a result, his hive is almost entirely inaccessible. He built his hive in the center of a dead volcano, and used the carpentry drones to construct an elaborate labyrinth kept entirely in darkness around his hive, to confuse and hopefully lose any invaders that had found his location. His lusus roamed the halls of the maze, using his electrical currents to cause the assassin's radars to malfunction and eating those who would lose their way down there. Those who find themselves in it without Sollux as their guide often don't find their way out, and die trying.

A good part of Sollux's life was spent like this, waiting for the day he would eventually be killed by an assassin, or weakly hoping that some day he would kill the Empress just on the sake that he would be rid of her. If Sollux had never met Tavros, another fellow seadweller that was shockingly kind, he likely would have spent the rest of his days alone. Through time, the two became sort of dependent on each other, in a moiraillegiance sort of fashion. It was then that Tavros would tell his other friends about Sollux, all ten of the others failing to believe in Sollux actually existing. One of magenta blood was rare to come across, and the fact Sollux refused to go on the surface or even leave his hive only further discredited Tavros' words. But eventually, when Sollux warmed up to the idea of speaking to other trolls, he would speak to them on his own through Trollian, and they realized he wasn't fake. Somewhere along the line, Sollux became close friends with Kanaya, a maroonblood. Kanaya is a FLARP player, and during one of her excursions found the ancient tombs that contained the hieroglyphics of the SGRUB. While she couldn't translate them, Sollux could. He then sent the translated words to yellowblooded Vriska, who serves as the session's programmer. She finished the code, and already begun organizing teams of her own without letting Kanaya in on that in some attempt at rivalry. Of course, Vriska's plans wound up backfiring on her, and Kanaya sends the game .~ath file to Sollux. Unfortunately at the time, he was too preoccupied to run it, since the power went out in his hive, and therefore meant something was wrong with his lusus. After a short search, he finds the assassins who had taken to blowing up his hive rather than navigating the maze that surrounds it, and kills them. He then finds his lusus dead, and mourns.

AND THAT'S ALL THE HISTORY THERE IS SO FAR!!

Game Import: N/A

Personality: The Sollux Captor of royal blood is still essentially the same Sollux of his yellow blooded self, but certain traits are dulled and others amplified, as per usual of any bloodswap. He's still the bipolar and moody kid who loves video games and has heterochromia, same as he is in the original Homestuck 'Verse. The major difference here though, is his new blood color and how that effects his personal life.

The irony of the situation is that Sollux never wanted to be Emperor. He would have been perfectly content with never taking the throne, if he was just allowed to live in peace. He would gladly switch places on the hemospectrum with anyone, if it meant he would never have to deal with being hunted every moment of his life. But of course, things don't get to work out that way. At one point in his life, Sollux would have liked to changed the way things were in terms of making trolls a more "caring" race, much like Feferi had her BIG PLANS to do. But concern over what others would think of him, and the realization that it would be a miracle if he lived long enough to gain power eventually extinguished the idea. He still would rather not see things in terms of blood caste color, and is actually rather close friends with Kanaya as evidence of this. He would rather not be treated as royalty or even as a highblood, preferring that others don't speak to him formally just because of his title. But because of this constant concern for his life, Sollux has rarely, if ever, left his hive. Of his eleven other friends/acquaintances, only Tavros (a fellow seadweller) has seen him in person. Because of his dangerous-to-navigate hive, on top of the fact it's underwater and he refuses to go to the surface, Sollux has not met another troll face-to-face that hadn't been trying to kill him (aside from Tavros).

Unlike canon Sollux, Tyrian-blooded Sollux has a very close relationship with his lusus (which he named Ampere). He's very affectionate towards Ampere, and it's probably the closest relationship he has with another living thing, due to his recluse nature. His relationship with Tavros, because of his self-imposed reclusion, is extremely strong. It's actually a moiraillegiance, which might seem odd at first. Neither troll seem too dangerous or close uncontrolled violence, but without Tavros to depend on for personal contact, Sollux would likely lose his mind, (Sock implied that as a "bipolar hermit genius living at the bottom of the ocean with monsters and assassins and a very justified fear of dying, whose only positive face-to-face interactions have been with his man-eating lusus," and Tavros, that Sollux was almost supervillain material. So with what Sollux has to deal with on a daily basis, it's better that he has someone to glub feelings with every once in a while.

Sollux experiences the same moodswings that his canon-self does, but to a lesser extent. Since he doesn't hear psychic voices in his head, there's only migraines motivating the more explosive moodswings and it's just generally a much less severe case. It's less of a disorder, and more "extremely moody", in short.

He still is as intelligent as his yellowblooded-self, and still is the main translator for the SGRUB game (although it's not called that in this AU), where he was given the original hieroglyphics by Kanaya (of maroonblood) and he then turned it over to Vriska. Back to Sollux; as a highblood, he doesn't have any psionic powers, nor does he hear the voices of the imminently deceased. He has no known psychic abilities, or prophetic dreams. Although he still has his heterochromia, it has yet to develop into vision twofold. However, it has been implied that he will have to deal with the possibly psychic dealings his yellow self has in the future, although they will be a lot more painful due to lack of the collective pain tolerance that yellowblood-Sollux has had due to years of dealing with.

Video games are still a big thing for Sollux. Seeing as he hardly leaves his hive, and books are kind of impossible to even exist underwater, video and computer games are his sole ways of amusing himself. He still retains his temper though, and has a tendency to ragequit his games when it becomes apparent he is going to lose. Spoilsport? Absolutely. This brings about some upset on Vriska's half, since she takes pride in utterly decimating her enemies online, and she can never beat him if he just leaves the game before she wins. He, however, could care less (although he probably tells everyone she was cheating using her hacks and that's the real reason he quits. They're both kind of brats when they play games together).

Powers: Extremely fast (underwater), and expert at assassin-like at one-hit (fatal) K.O.'s. He's limited by his low stamina, somewhat weak body structure, and the fact he's unaccustomed to living/surviving on the surface. What is air (literally). He has Dinglhopprkind Tridentkind strife specibus, meaning he fights with a trident, although it only has two prongs (so a... bident?).

Other Details: Appearance here.

SAMPLES (Not doing a game import, but using threads from a previous game as samples.)

A 3rd person sample.

1st person sample. (Although he's using grey font there, he'd typically be writing with magenta/tyrian colored font.

Any Concerns: is vivi still a butt
