WHY ARE WE BOTHERING There's a lot of reasons to do quests. Aside from the immediate motivation of whatever reward is offered, if your character does enough of them-- especially government sponsored quests-- they will earn more trust and standing within the community, with the option to eventually garner themselves an official position in government. After enough time, they may even be allowed access to the portals that bring characters to this world, allowing them to go home and come back at will. More information on this is available at the FAQ. If you think your character has done enough to warrant an in game reward, let the mods know and we'll hash it out with you! Keep in mind that you probably want to keep track of your quests in a post in your journal somewhere. We will be leaving the completed threads up for future reference, and the currently available quests are linked on the left in the nav panel. Completed, no longer active quests will be removed from the list and the thread will be replied to in order to show that it's been closed out. If you have questions about any particular quest, you can ask in the thread for that quest, or contact the moderators. TAKING QUESTS Let's go over the form. The quest descriptions will be as follows: Quest Title: Quest Giver: This can be the government, an NPC, a player character, or simply a task that conspicuously needs doing. Reward: Anything from money to items to jobs to just someone's trust. Certain people may follow up with particularly reliable quest fillers and offer them special opportunities. Task Description: This should be short, but should also detail all of the information you'll need to know to play it out. Can this be filled multiple times? Some quests are one time events only, and will operate on a first come, first served basis. Note that a quest becomes inactive once it has been filled, not once it has been signed up for -- in fact we don't take sign ups, only notices of fulfillment -- so more active players will be able to fulfill quests much more regularly. OOC Requirements: What prevents you from simply commenting to a bunch of quests and saying you did them? You have to do something in game with it! You can't just say Shounen McHero did ten quests today, you have to play them out in some capacity. This does not always have to be a real log, but can maybe just be a mention to someone else in character that it happened. Quests with bigger rewards will have bigger OOC requirements, and vice-versa. As stated, most quests will require some sort of in game acknowledgement that they've occurred in order for the reward to be given. We don't take 'claims' on future intent to fill quests, because that locks up the quest and prevents others from attempting it while you may forget you ever signed up for it. Please be respectful of the somewhat competitive atmosphere this creates, and do not monopolize the quests. We will be checking the links provided for the OOC requirements, and you must wait for our acknowledgement before assuming in game that the character has received their reward. Try to work in the mention at least somewhat naturally. This is not really a competition, and is meant to provide you with things to do, not things to obsess over! It would make us very sad to see people repeatedly shoehorning in mentions in order to complete oodles of quests, especially in ways that obviously break the conversational flow. Once you have filled the requirements, you may claim the reward by responding to the quest thread with the form on the top left. You can see an example of this process in this thread. If you have questions about the nature of the quest before you want to go about filling it, go ahead and ask those by responding to the initial quest comment. What if someone else makes a reward claim while I'm still in the process of threading out a requirement for a one fill only quest? If your thread started before they claimed the reward, and your timestamps reflect that, we'll honor both fills despite the potential IC logistics confusion. A simple handwave that they both took place is not behind the scope of RP, and this keeps things fair without making anyone retcon. Please check the thread for that quest before making a post about it, however! That will save a lot of discrepancies. OFFERING QUESTS It's not always the mod characters and NPCs that need things done for them, though we will try to keep a good bank of quests up for you to fill! We would love and in fact encourage you, the players, to have your characters offer quests, and to give us suggestions on what we should offer. Have a great idea but your character wouldn't post a quest for it? Want a specific type of reward, and one isn't up offering that? Let us know! In the meantime, if your character would offer a quest, you can make your own thread below using the form on the top left. Please monitor this quest on your own -- approve the reward and close it out when completed. | ||
