First we need a quick explanation of how NPCs work here. Several are going to be of the more standard type: important locals that player characters will have cause to interact with from time to time. But in an effort to integrate PCs more closely with the workings of the local government, several of the mods' canon characters will be functioning in some capacity as part of that government, and can be interacted with regularly for normal CR or in their official capacity. There will, of course, also be regular native NPCs played as needed, some more frequently than others, with more arising as plot develops.
Characters listed with an inbox on this page are available for contact at any time in their official capacity, and have made their email address public for that purpose. In other words, feel free to contact them out of the blue for whatever IC concern your character might have! Anyone listed without an inbox can be requested here on this page in the comments.
All our NPC icons were drawn for us by the amazing Siberia. Her commission information is available here.
NATIVE CHARACTERS
LorriswarkinINBOX The former Speaker (deceased). |
Old even for a gnome, Lorriswarkin has been Speaker for a long, long time-- at least fifty years. He is almost a feature of the city, and is familiar and knowledgeable with just about every facet of it. He is a quiet, private man who is starting to feel his age, and perhaps does not have enough enthusiasm to keep up with the dynamic problems Darstone now faces. Yet Lorriswarkin has devoted nearly his entire life to looking after it, and no one can deny that he is an effective mediator between the shifting factions. He would also greatly prefer if you called him Lorris.
In October, Lorris was killed by the fever, throwing the city into chaos and resulting in a new Speaker ... |

One of the lizard people called the Kra'shak, A'aladash is a forthright, ambitious woman in the midspan of her life. She takes her role as chief very seriously, but is not the stone-faced stereotype you might expect. She has a good sense of humor and an innate flexibility that makes her well-suited to the position in a city full of so many different races-- and frequent crises.
Like many of her kind, she considers Darstone her territory, and looks to the broader good of the city over the individual rights of its citizens. This can lead to some tension between her and other members of the council, but A'aladash is strong-minded and a fierce warrior who stands her position. She has little knowledge of magic, has a strange fondness for tea, and is rarely ever seen taking a rest from her duties. |

Xiuhtonal is one of the Chocolina, the bird-like race of Darstone. While it seems strange that she would hold this position because of the Chocolina's stance on the newcomers, Xiuhtonal likes to think that she's more accepting of others than most of her people. She does still tend to be confused and condescending towards others, but it's not meant to be malicious.
She's very scatterbrained most of the time, though she is very good at her job because she has such a friendly demeanor, and because she tends to over-exaggerate the good and be almost stupidly optimistic. If there's any way to help make the city look better to everyone, she'll find a way, even if it sounds completely ridiculous to most people. |

A beautiful, mysterious Chocolina with feathers as black as a raven's, Yakisha is the President and CEO of the powerful private company that bears her name - Yakisha Industries.
Yakisha has her fingers in many pies in the city, and a great deal of political clout as well. She's definitely not the type of person you want to make your enemy. |
