RULES AND REGULATIONS

Check the taken characters and the reserve page to ensure that your character isn't already taken.

We do accept nearly every type of character, including canon, minor, AU, game imports, OCs, fandom OCs, and so forth. There is one canon and one AU version of each character allowed. Especially minor characters may be evaluated as fandom OCs, but are appable under that distinction. Please remove the sections of the application that do not pertain to your character.

You can play up to five characters at one time. Two of those characters can be from the same canon. You may bring in two characters per calendar month, discounting rejections. If you wish to apply for a sixth character overall or a third canonmate, contact us individually.

App challenge policy is as follows: we will wait the length of the reserve for the original reserver to apply, and judge their application first, independently and not comparatively. Only if they are rejected will the challenger be assessed. Without a reserve, apps will be assessed in the order they are received-- again not against each other, but each one at a time.

We would prefer if you do not delete your comments upon rejection or acceptance. Simply ask us and we will screen the entire thread on request for privacy, no explanation necessary.

Applications are checked daily, and assigned to a mod who is best able to assess the application, either because of available time or because they know the fandom best. When necessary, the mods will discuss your application before coming to a decision. Please be patient and allow us time to check and discuss. Some apps will be approved almost immediately, while others may take a little longer. It's not because we don't care, but because we may be having trouble finding someone familiar with your canon, or simply that we're unexpectedly busy.

History Link: Please link to a canon source even if your character is an AU! Include a written history only if there isn’t a convenient wiki or other site that gives a good explanation of the canon.

AU/OC History: If you are applying for an AU version of the character, or an original character, please give a comprehensive description of what your AU or original universe are about and (in the case of an AU) what the differences are between the canon history and your AU. You should include something about what has happened recently before the character comes to the Lost Realm.

Game Import: If your character is being imported from another game, please identify the game and indicate what changes your character will display as a result of development in the game. It’s suggested that you include an overview of major events that have happened to them, and significant CR that they’ve made, but this doesn’t need to be terribly long.

Personality: We have no word count requirement on this, but it should be the bulk of your application.

Powers: This is mandatory for all characters, but does not need to be extensive. A list or bullet point would be fine.

SAMPLES
Please give at least one sample of the character you’re playing. These can be musebox or game threads, or can be written fresh for this application. If you are doing a game import, you should include a recent thread from the game. Your application samples should give a representative example of how you’ll be playing the character in this game. We prefer thread links, but will not penalize anyone for providing more standard written samples instead; if we feel we need more material to judge from, we'll ask.

Although you've touched on Rei's inner conflict over her identity, this is a major part of her character, and I'd like to see it explored a little further. Either an addendum to the current personality section exploring how she sees herself and how that changes over the course of the series, or another thread or sample that is more introspective, would work. Thank you!

Her room was empty and gray, as it always was. Or, at least, that is how she had always remembered it being. In truth this was the first time she had ever been in this particular sparsely decorated dwelling. The bed, dresser, everything though they supposedly belonged to her felt alien, the distant reflection of someone who had come before her. She was not the first to dwell in this room, that honor belonged to a poor soul who had sacrificed her very life for the sake of others. But that girl was also Rei, a confusing notion to be sure. She was Rei, yet the dead girl, she was Rei to. Rei held her head in pain, the contradiction of her existence echoing in her mind over and over.

“Who am I? I'm Rei, right?” she spoke to herself in the empty room as if to confirm her own existence. She wondered silently how many had come before her, how many poor girls had carried the name “Rei” only to pass on before they could truly become a truly unique being. The thought only hurt the young girl more, staggering her body and mind. Doubled over in mental anguish she lipped to the dresser that had contained what would from now on be her clothing. On the dresser's flat surface lie a pair of cracked glasses. Dredging the depth of her memory she knew who they belonged to and could even recall the event which he led to their near destruction. But they were not her memories, she had never experienced such an event, though she knew very well the man to whom the glasses belonged. He was someone important to her, or more so important to the girl named “Rei”. The more she thought the more she realized her existence, her memories, this room, and even the clothing resting in the small dresser belong not only to her, but to the collective “Rei”. Rei was not a single being, but rather she was but one among many. The pain reached a fevered pitch, nearly knocking her to the ground via it's sheer magnitude.

“I'm not the only one...” She reflected. “Then what makes me different from the girl who owned this room and even the girls who came before her?” She honestly didn't know, she was a being stitched together from disparate pieces, the DNA of a dead woman whose name she didn't know and even parts of a strange being from beyond the stars. One of many, a pale copy of someone who was long lost from this world, her mind screamed from the scope of it all. “What makes me different from all of them?” she repeated.

Then she began to recall the memories of the other girl, of all those she had met, the places she had been and the things she had done. They were things she would only ever know second hand, people who she would be meeting for the first time but who still dwelled within her inherited memories. “Maybe that's it.” she thought aloud. Though they were born the in the same manner and looked identical all the other girl had been through, seen, and done had shaped her had defined who she was as a living being. Within the confines of the mind of others, meaning beyond her strange origin had been attributed to her. It was so much to process, so much she didn't understand, but it at least silenced the pain wracking her frail mind and body for the moment. Someday, when she had done things and met people the other girl hadn't, perhaps she would understand the truth then.

“I'm going.” She stoically posed to no one in particular as she set out into the outside world.
