Applications

Application form:
APPLICATIONS ARE ALWAYS OPEN.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
Check the taken characters and the reserve page to ensure that your character isn't already taken.

We do accept nearly every type of character, including canon, minor, AU, game imports, OCs, fandom OCs, and so forth. There is one canon and one AU version of each character allowed. Especially minor characters may be evaluated as fandom OCs, but are appable under that distinction. Please remove the sections of the application that do not pertain to your character.

You can play up to five characters at one time. Two of those characters can be from the same canon. You may bring in two characters per calendar month, discounting rejections. If you wish to apply for a sixth character overall or a third canonmate, contact us individually.

App challenge policy is as follows: we will wait the length of the reserve for the original reserver to apply, and judge their application first, independently and not comparatively. Only if they are rejected will the challenger be assessed. Without a reserve, apps will be assessed in the order they are received-- again not against each other, but each one at a time.

We would prefer if you do not delete your comments upon rejection or acceptance. Simply ask us and we will screen the entire thread on request for privacy, no explanation necessary.

Applications are checked daily, and assigned to a mod who is best able to assess the application, either because of available time or because they know the fandom best. When necessary, the mods will discuss your application before coming to a decision. Please be patient and allow us time to check and discuss. Some apps will be approved almost immediately, while others may take a little longer. It's not because we don't care, but because we may be having trouble finding someone familiar with your canon, or simply that we're unexpectedly busy.

If you have any questions about the application process, feel free to contact the moderators directly or ask in the FAQ for clarification.

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Include (AU) if applicable.
Series:
Canon Point: If you are applying for the OU version of your character, please give a quick explanation of what point in canon your character will be coming from.
History Link: Please link to a canon source even if your character is an AU! Include a written history only if there isn’t a convenient wiki or other site that gives a good explanation of the canon.

AU/OC History: If you are applying for an AU version of the character, or an original character, please give a comprehensive description of what your AU or original universe are about and (in the case of an AU) what the differences are between the canon history and your AU. You should include something about what has happened recently before the character comes to the Lost Realm.

Game Import: If your character is being imported from another game, please identify the game and indicate what changes your character will display as a result of development in the game. It’s suggested that you include an overview of major events that have happened to them, and significant CR that they’ve made, but this doesn’t need to be terribly long.

Personality: We have no word count requirement on this, but it should be the bulk of your application.

Powers: This is mandatory for all characters, but does not need to be extensive. A list or bullet point would be fine.

Other Details: Anything else you think we should know.

SAMPLES
Please give at least one sample of the character you’re playing. These can be musebox or game threads, or can be written fresh for this application. If you are doing a game import, you should include a recent thread from the game. Your application samples should give a representative example of how you’ll be playing the character in this game. We prefer thread links, but will not penalize anyone for providing more standard written samples instead; if we feel we need more material to judge from, we'll ask.

CHARACTER INFO
Character Name: Arturia Pendragon/Saber
Series: Fate/Stay Night/Zero
Canon Point: Roughly two years after the end of the fourth Holy Grail War.
History Link: http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Saber_%28Fate/stay_night%29.

AU/OC History:
This version of Arturia hails from the fanfic "The Princess Knight" which can be found here: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7917047/1/The_Princess_Knight

A summery of that AU is as follows:

Arturia's history branches from the moment in which Kiritsugu mind was temporarily entrapped by the Holy Grail, which showed him visions of his wife and daughter in an attempt to lure the magus killer into making a wish. In canon he is able to resist by following his pragmatic ideals that it is better to save as many people as possible. Here, instead, Kiritsugu chose his family over his former wish of ridding the world of evil and chose to make a wish for his wife and daughter to be happy. However, as the Grail was tainted by the darkness of Angra Manyu, the wish was twisted, restoring Irisviel to life in a new body but consuming Kiritsugu's life, and many more in the resulting fire that came afterwords, in order to do so.

In the confusion afterwords, Irisviel finds herself in the burning wreckage of Fuyuki City frantically calling her husbands name. It is Saber who ends up finding her in such a state, having just enough mana to linger for a few hours more after her master's death, and attempts to carry her out of the blaze. On the way out Irisviel comes upon a red-haired child half buried in rubble and on the verge of collapse , unable to leave the poor child to die, she implores Saber to bring him with despite the impractical nature of the request. Saber eventually complies, knowing there was little time to argue, and summons all her strength to save all of them from the spreading flame.

Escaping the aftermath of the Grail War, the trio eventually arrive at a hospital where the young boy is checked for any damage he may have sustained. In the meantime, Irisviel, not wishing to be alone with her daughter far away and her husband passed away, forms a contract with Saber. After finishing the ritual binding master and servant, Irisviel kisses Saber in the heat of the moment, though she isn't sure why she did so. Some hours later, the child, named Shirou, is found to be in stable condition, though it will take several weeks for him to recover from his injuries. Irisviel also decides that she wishes to care for the child if no one else could be found to take the role.

Finally safe, Irisviel and her Saber move into the house Kiritsugu had used as a base of operations during the war. Fixing the place up a bit they lead a quiet life together for sometime. However, in both their minds lingers the thought of the kiss they had shared after Shirou's rescue. While in Saber's mind it had come across as an act of affection meant as a reward for saving her master's life, Irisviel thought differently seeing it as a physical manifestation of her own latent feelings for Saber.

For weeks both manage to stay silent on the subject until, one day, while on a shopping trip Irisviel shyly asks the King of Knights if anyone has ever been in love with her. To which she responds that even if any such person held feelings for her, her role as knight and king would likely have prevented her from returning such affections. Irisviel, thinking that their new peaceful life would allow for romance, confesses her own feelings for her servant several days later. Unsure what to think of such advances, it takes several days for Arturia to reach a conclusion on the matter. Reflecting on her relationship with Irisviel, the fact that she was the first person in centuries who had treated her as a human being rather then a king or knight and had shown her so much of the outside world she never would have seen simply following Kiritsugu's orders. Even if it was just a small spark of a feeling, Arturia found she had feelings for her new master as as well. Confessing she felt the same way to Irisviel, both began living as a couple just a week or so before Shirou's was set to be released from the hospital. As a result of their new found closeness, Irisviel dropped calling her servant-turned-lover Saber entirely choosing instead to address her as “Arturia” in private and “Miss Pendragon” in public.

Soon afterwords, Shirou's recovery was completely making it time for him to come home to the shared Einzbern-Pendragon, as Irisviel had officially adopted the young child. Though shy for sometime around his new family, Shirou eventually takes to Iri and Arturia and begins to treat the both of them as his new parents. In particular, Shirou is highly influence by Arturia's chivalrous attitude and idolizes her for her talent with a sword and her many tales of knights and other memories of a bygone era.

After getting Shirou used to his new home, Arturia and Irisviel plan the rescue of Irisviel's daughter Illya from the clutches of her father, the patriarch of the Einzbern family, Acht Von Einzbern. Though rough, the rescue mission is a success and ends with the entire family together under one roof. In the process, Irisviel renounces the Einzbern name on the grounds that she no longer wishes to be affiliated with a family that has brought so much pain to so many people.

When home, though Illya is rather aloof with Arturia, often clinging to her mother's side all waking hours of the day after months of being separated from her, the king of knights does her best to keep up with the child and hopes someday they can be friends.

The whole family finally together, Irisviel finally tells Shirou of her past as a magus, though she leaves out key elements regarding her being an artificial human, after discovering the young boy has a talent for magecraft. As a tradeoff for not teaching him magic, seeing it as to dangerous after experiencing the ruin of the Grail War first hand, Arturia offers to teach the child the basics of swordplay and the ethics behind being a knight, an idea that excites the red-haired youth to a great degree. During these discussions the issue of Irisveil revoking her family name is also solved with her taking Arturia's last name as her own, and passing it along to her children in the process. A vow as close to marriage as possible for the two women.

In the present, Shirou, Illya, Irisviel, and Arturia all live as a happy yet slightly dysfunctional family with Arturia working part time at a local restaurant while Irisviel watches the children and takes care of of half of the house work.
Game Import:

Personality:
Due to her role as king, in her original life, Arturia was a stoic and pragmatic woman who made decisions based on what would be best for the majority of those under her. Often sacrificing a few people in order to save many more. However, this method of rule eventually backfired on the King of Knights as the public often saw her as a cold and distant figure. Eventually culminating in betrayal by her own knights at the Battle of Camalan. This led to the Arturia to have a rather sorrowful view of her reign as king, seeing herself as someone who failed those she served to the point that she began to wish that someone else had been chosen to be king instead of her, a belief that would stick with her well into the holy grail war and become her driving force for gaining the Grail for herself.

After being summoned by the Einzbern family during the fourth war, she instantly takes issue with her master Kiritsugu for his cold and calculating view of the world. Being a knight who is intensely proud of her chivalrous nature and upholds it even in the midst of the fiercest of battle, the fact that her master, Kiritsugu Emiya, was a mercenary with who had no problem killing his foes in stealthy and underhanded ways, she instantly comes to blows with him over matters of ideals. She also displays respect for those who share similar views of battle, a fact clearly seen in her battles with Rider and Lancer who both are just as chivalrous as her, though in slightly different ways.

She is far closer with her master's wife, Irisviel Von Einzbern, whom Kiritsugu sets up as a decoy master for Saber in order to throw off his enemies. Spending a majority of the war alone with Irisviel, we see Arturia's softer side as she does everything in her power to make her lady feel comfortable. Often calling Irisviel her princess, Arturia seems to show genuine affection and friendship towards the Einzbern homunculus.

Arturia is also rather protective of others, as seen in her relationship with Irisviel, and will go through great length to ensure their safety. However, in the same vein, she strongly dislikes being told by others that she needs to be protected. Seeing such statements as a slight against her status and all that she has done in her life. She also dislike people assuming that she is weak simply because she is a woman.

As a person and woman, rather then a knight and king, Saber can be rather shy, especially in manners of romance and other emotional matters. Seeing as she never had time for such things during her first life time, both remain rather alien to her and often cause Arturia to blush profusely when confronted with any related situation. She also does not see herself as attractive because she has a rather boyish build and does not compare favorably to more feminine woman.

Following the end of the Grail War and her forming a contract with Irisviel, Arturia's personality has softened a bit from living a peaceful and quiet day-to-day life free of battle and conflict. With her role shifting from warrior and guardian to mother and lover, she has had something of a hard time adjusting to such a life, taking many weeks to simply feel comfortable living with her new master. After taking a romantic liking to and becoming a couple with Irisviel, she eventually becomes used to domestic living, though she still remains nervous from long periods of inactivity at times, she works out such issues with her daily practice of swordplay and extended moments of meditation.

With Shirou's arrival, Arturia does her best to play the role of mother to the small child, partly out of a genuinely wanting to be a part of the child's life and partly out of her regret for not being able to be a fitting parent to her “child,” Mordred. It takes sometime, but in her own way, she eventually connects with Shirou..

In the case of Illya, Irisviel's biological child, Arturia has had less success in bonding simply because Illya is so attached to her biological mother. Sometime in the future she hopes to form a stronger bond with her adopted daughter.

Powers:
Due to her training as a knight, Arturia is well versed in swordplay and military tactics as well as being rather physically fit.

She also possess a number of magical artifacts of some power.

Excalibur, the Sword of Promise Victory:
A sword given to Arturia by the Lady in the Lake and her personal sword arm. Excalibur is in many ways the symbol of her reign as king. Aside from being a magical sword of some power, it is also capable of focusing Arturia's manner into a powerful magical blast capable of destroy huge swaths of foes at once.

Invisible Air:
A magical spell Arturia uses to keep Exalibur out of sight. Can also be used to form a powerful gust of air capable of great destructive power.

Avalon, The Ever Distant Utopia
Excalibur's sheath and a powerful defensive Noble Phantasm. Capable of guarding most attacks, Avalon also grant's its owner a powerful regenerative force when paired with Excalibur. This item is currently not in Arturia's possession as it was given to Shirou to heal the wounds he sustained during the aftermath of the Grail War.

Other Details:
Saber's current hobby is riding and repairing motorcycles, a pastime she picked up after her master gave her a bike during the Grail War. She also works part time at a local family restaurant to provide for her new family. Finally, though she is not legally married, due to more then a few issues, she considers Irisviel to be her wife and treats her accordingly.
