Housing Assignments

MOVING IN AND MOVING OUT
By no means are characters forced to stay in these rooms! They are spartan and slightly undesirable for a very important reason-- the government provided them. It would be very rude to pull people in from other worlds to help you and not even provide them with somewhere to live, so they have built this apartment building specifically for that purpose. With typical government frugality, it's not anything special, and you might not want to stick around.

If you can find a way to support yourself-- and feel free to assume they've been employed by an NPC somewhere that you can make up the details about-- they're welcome to move out and go somewhere else. Should that happen, let us know on this post and we'll remove them from the list here. If they ever find themselves destitute and homeless and need somewhere to live again, you can comment back and the government will re-assign them a room.

This method is specifically worked so that no one is left with a room assignment where all of their roommates have moved out and are no longer actually around. Everyone on this list should, hopefully, be actively living here, and you should contact your roommates and neighbors to plot out CR. Everyone is in the same building, after all, which makes it easy to run into each other.

ROOM DESCRIPTION
Every character will be given a private room in a three bedroom suite to share. This is a fairly small, basic set up, and the rooms are randomly assigned without respect to gender lines, so this might not be the most comfortable living situation.

It does come provided with utilities and whatever passes for internet here, and you are given a minimal stipend for living expenses such as food. You won't have budget for much else unless you find a job, however. The apartments themselves are all identical to the floor plan below, and come with plain furnishings, though anything electrical is once again that slightly strange magic/tech mix so common to Darstone. The elevator mimics this as well, and is more like a tiny closet just big enough to be handicap accessible-- for the most part you probably want to use the stairs.

The rooms themselves are labeled with a number and a letter. The number is what floor, with 1 actually being the second floor, as the bottom most ground floor is reserved for common areas. The letters run A through H, with four on each side of the hallway, ABCD across from EFGH. So don't forget to look at who your neighbors are, too!

On the ground floor you can find the laundry room, the mail room, a tiny office space with a public computer and printer, a socializing room with a large mirror that functions much like a television, and the landlord's office. The rest of the floor is blocked off, as it contains the heating and electrical controls and other maintenance things. The building itself is located very close to the central government offices, and therefore is something of a hike away from other residences and the market.

THE ASSIGNMENTS
Upon acceptance, your character will be automatically put in the first available space, with preference for otherwise filled rooms that have empty spaces. This is to provide you with the best chance for gaining active CR from your housing assignment. We will also attempt not to house canonmates together, in order to provide a variety of CR opportunities.

If you have some kind of special request pertaining to housing, let us know and we'll try to accommodate it-- but if you really want something in particular for your character, your best bet is to simply have them move out and go find it themselves. In that case, remember to comment here letting us know they don't need their room anymore!

Characters cannot change their official housing assignment without going through IC channels to do so, but may unofficially sleep wherever they like, until that room is assigned to someone. Then they are probably (ICly) going to get kicked out. As stated before, if they want a specific living situation, they are strongly encouraged to find a job and their own place to live.

Now to the part you really care about.
